Basking in the arid Yakima Valley like an oasis in the Sahara, the Yakima Sun Dome is a bastion of entertainment on an otherwise blank desert canvas. Year-round trade shows, conventions and a full slate of music and sporting events guarantee that the residents of the "Palm Springs of Washington" have plenty to do.The Dome attracts the same big names that hit the western Washington venues -- Reba McEntire, Melissa Etheridge, KISS -- but generally schedules on the country/classic rock side, shooting for 15 concerts per year. Other big draws throughout the year include the Hot Rod and Custom Car Show, the Silver Bullet Blues Fest and a Christmas gift show. The arena, with a 7,800-person seating capacity, is also the rowdy home court for the Yakima Sun Kings. The team is a member of the 11-team Continental Basketball Association, a feeder system for the National Basketball Association.Directions:
